Ken Walker's blogQR Code for your smart phoneThis may seem a bit nerdy, but here goes anyway. You may have seen codes like the one in this image. These are the next generation of the familiar bar code, they are 2d instead of 1d like a bar code. The result is that they can include a lot more information. They are also very simple to generate and to read. Any smart phone with a camera should be able to read them. There are apps for the iphone. My android phone has one called barcode scanner. If I use the phone to scan this image, it takes me immediately to the web site that this code points to, in this case, our club web site.

Show and Shine 2010Eighteen Sunrise Rotarians, their spouses, kids and friends were out for the smoothie and burger sale and Show N Shine today. My apologies for the photo and video quality, best I could do with a cell phone. VisioningLauren Gannon lead a small group of our members tonight through the 3rd (or is it the 4th) Visioning session. We have canceled the evening meeting on April 27, 2010 as there are too many of our incoming executive away that evening. We are planning to extend our normal one hour meeting on the morning of June 1 to 3 hours (7 am to 10 am) to discuss, fine tune and adopt the long term plan that is being developed in these sessions. But Rotary's work is not done: The disease has not yet been eradicated. Goal To see where we are now, check the thermometer. Rotary's US$200 Million Challenge is the Rotary Foundation's response to the two grants totaling $355 million from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to help eradicate polio. Every dollar given to PolioPlus will be counted toward the $200 million match, which must be completed by 30 June 2012.
