I respectfuly disagree with Ken on 2 issues:
First I believe that if we do this we should do it as a Club and all members, if we agree to proceed, should be assessed the chosen amount.
Second, RYE is an important and significant project in it's own right. It's as important a project as anything else we may do in any one year. It has the potential to be a life changing experience for the two young people. It's a maturing and growing experience; the students become more globally aware; they develope a new perspective of themselves and the world they live in.
Funding this program without an assessment like this would tie up a lot of our regular fundraising efforts and limit our other projects so I think an assessment is a good way to go but I would like to see it treated the way that we treat foundation contributions, that is it should be encouraged and expected of those who can but each member should know that it is not mandatory.
